Hush Summer Sale: My Picks!

The summer sale at Hush is winding down, but you can still head on over to their site to bag yourself some bargains!

Hush shirt

Half Frame Angular Cat Eye Sunglasses, ASOS / Necklace, Accessorize / Chiffon Shirt, Hush / Jeans, Gap / Antonia Bag, Hobbs / Brown Patent Maddox Wedges, L.K. Bennett

One of my favourite items is this beautiful chiffon shirt in whale (slightly dodgy colour name…) – it’s cool, smart looking, but easy to wear, and great for the current muggy weather… And, it’s £30, reduced from £60.

These shoes were a huge bargain that I found at the L.K. Bennett outlet store – they actually didn’t have my size in stock, but the lovely SA there tracked down the final pair and had them posted to me. I always find L.K. Bennett’s customer service is amazing. (Hobbs could learn a lot. Just saying…)

Another pic from the sale is the tangerine Michelle top, which is currently just £15!

It’s lovely and billowy – a great bright colour, and it’ll keep you sooo cool in the heat! Can’t you just imagine wearing this on your tropical beach getaway holiday? Or, if you’re like me, down the local seafront, fighting off seagulls?

Fake flowers for your hair

If you follow me on Pinterest, you might have noticed my massive English Country Garden board, full of flower garlands, lacey shoes, 50s prom dresses and pretty floral fabrics. This is the mood board for my Ascot outfit this year (you know I love Ascot!) and the idea (at the moment, anyway) is to make floral headdresses. And so, because when I decide to do anything, it must be done immediately, when I was in London last month, I decided to do a bit of research into floral headdresses by checking out the range of artificial flowers on offer.

Artificial flowers are like anything else – you can pay pennies or pounds (hundreds of pounds, to be exact), and in general, you get what you pay for. In a high-end shop (in a secret location, as they ‘don’t do social media’… Good luck to ’em!) I found some beautiful blooms that would end up setting you back about £100 for a headdress. Generally, artificial flowers cost the same price as eight weeks of fresh – which makes sense when you’re buying for somewhere like a hotel or restaurant. Not so much when you’re buying them for what amounts to a hat!

This bundle below, for example, cost £49 (ouch!).

If you want to go the other end of the scale, Ikea do a range of flowers that start from 65p!

I guess it all depends on how closely people will be looking at your head, right?!

10 Dec: Ciate Mini Mani Month – Ladylike Luxe

Untitled Untitled Untitled

Today, behind door number 10, we have a beautiful, festive gold colour – named Ladylike Luxe! You might remember from a previous post that I’ve been searching for the perfect gold colour, and this comes pretty close. It’s nowhere near as bold as my favourite, OPI’s GoldenEye, but it’s a strong yet subtle gold that might be more suitable for the day time or low-key festive occasions where you don’t want to go too over the top. I guess ‘ladylike’ is a good descriptive for this pretty gold!

Here’s how Ciate describes this shimmer: “Pure gold silk in a bottle. Iridescent gold with a subtle layer of shimmer to  catch the light. Champagne darling!”

Very pretty – a true gold with a soft edge.

8 Dec: Ciate Mini Mani Month – Vintage

Okay you guys, I have a confession… I took these yesterday, because I knew I wouldn’t have enough time to get everything done today – I’ve gone off on a day trip with my parents to a Christmas fair. Or rather, by the time you read this I will have! I also took a peek behind the window for this colour earlier in the month – and I’m glad I did, because the bottle had a tiny hole in the top, hence the colour leaking everywhere! Thankfully, Ciate’s customer service was excellent, and they sent me a replacement.

This creme is called Vintage, a blue-hued grey. Ciate says: “Rich, deep and majestic grey. Unusually striking and even more so when paired with our Matte top coat, Mattnificient. Wear this futuristic nail trend and watch the compliments roll in.”

Unfortunately, I don’t have a matte topcoat, but I still like the look of this bold colour! It’s lovely as a creamy gloss, but I think I’ll try it out with matte if I ever get one…
