Things to do in summer: strawberry picking

There’s nothing better than tramping though a straw-strewn field on a Sunday, filling punnet after punnet with delicious, perfectly ripe strawberries.

Strawberry picking is one of my favourite summer activities and I try to go at least two or three times during the season!

The only problem that occurs is what to do with all the strawberries – but honestly, what a fantastic problem to have!

Some of my favourite things are to eat them simply cut up (with a dribble of Cointreau if you’re feeling naughty!), or sliced onto yogurt with honey. Or, whiz them in a blender and add to sugar and lemon to make homemade strawberry lemonade! I’m also partial to serving them with fried halloumi to make a really unusual and delicious salad.

Ah yes, strawberry jam is a great idea! Maybe pairing it with some unusual flavours to get something you can’t buy in the shops!

There is nothing like picking your own fruit, especially strawberries, it really is England at it’s best. What I love most is the smell of strawberries, I am instantly transported back to my childhood, when I used to spend my summer holidays picking fruit for a local farmer, and, when the sun always seemed to be shining…..Happy times! p.s Thanks for finding and commenting on my blog, which meant in turn I have found you! I am now your newest follower, and looking forward to your new posts! xx

It is true – the sun was always shining when I was a kid! Ha ha!

I like to eat strawberries in a tortilla with avocado, ham, salad and craisins! I know – weird much? 😀 I love your design, the colours in the posts don’t look overwhealming. 🙂
I’d be happy if you visited my blog and shared your opinion on it with me, as I am a beginner in blogging 🙂
