Last week I was invited to pop along to the French Sole press day for spring / summer 2015, held at the beautiful Brown’s Hotel in London! Needless to say, I was in shoe heaven – kudos to creator Jane Winkworth and her team for creating some fantastic collections for next year. There were three main themes for next year’s French Sole selection, and by far the most feminine and romantic was Floral Daze.
There were some absolutely stunning details on these shoes, and the hand crafted leather flowers were beautiful. The satin floral pattern Henriettas were the standout of this collection, but it was nearly impossible to narrow it down amongst these beauties.
Eye catching with its bold candy colours was the Pick & Mix collection, decorated with a lavish display from British company Hope and Greenwood. Saturated jewel tones, crocodile finishes and suede stood out, and there was a veritable rainbow of bright colours to choose from!
I absolutely loved the cheeky love heart designs, and there were some incredible metallic finishes on display as well – and who could resist the glitter on this pretty purple pair?
The third and final main collection was From Paris With Love – and as you can imagine, there were some bold colours and chic French design flourishes here.
I love nautical designs, so a few of these really popped out to me – the striped red and navy pairs, and the t-bar Penelope pointed flats were gorgeous. And I love the interchangeable tassels on the bottom left pair – the hot pink option really knocks it out of the park!
There were even more designs for the Love Heart Henriettas (one of my all time favourite French Sole designs!), and some gorgeous new lace-ups too – I’m definitely going to invest in a pair of these beauties soon.
I also wanted to mention French Sole’s foray into the world of accessories, with gorgeous silk scarf designs featuring drawings from Jane herself, and some sturdy leather tote bags on display too. And, I fell in love with FS’s pretty little bow charms so much that I trekked all the way to Sloane Street to purchase a set from the Ellis Street store! They’re just £4 each, but they really transform the look of the shoe, and are absolutely adorable!
Huge thanks to the French Sole press team for inviting me over to this amazing event, and also to Brown’s, who were consummate hosts.
Visit French Sole online here for their current collection (including some rather gorgeous new sparkly Cambridges!) Don’t forget if you’re from the US, you can visit the company at London Sole. Brown’s Hotel can be found online here – they do some gorgeous afternoon teas! And, finally, get your sweet tooth fix from Hope & Greenwood here.
