Mirroring Meghan Markle’s Royal Style Part One: The Bags

You guy know how much of a fan I am of Kate’s royal fashion, so when Meghan Markle joined the royal family officially, I was thrilled – double the fashion, double the fun! I adore the fact that Meghan brings a whole new style to her official functions, with chic, pared-back pieces being a hallmark of hers. Whilst Kate’s Sloaney, preppy, tailored style is classic and absolutely gorgeous, Meghan’s more laid-back smart-casual wardrobe might resonate more with women who already have a similar style for their everyday looks. So far Meghan’s style hinges on solid primary colours like navy, black, white and green, and consists of skinny or wide leg trousers, simple tops and jumpers, paired with luxurious wrap coats and small, structured crossbody bags which can be carried under the arm or by a top handle.

Here are some of my favourite pieces from Meghan’s wardrobe!

The Green Crossbody Bag

Bags

Bottle green is one of Meghan’s signature colours – in both of her Scottish trips, she’s carried a beautiful bottle green accessory in the form of a crossbody bag. One is the Mini Venice from DeMellier (still available to preorder here for £295), the other is the Strathberry East/West Mini (preorder here for £395). The former is a more casual looking bag thanks to its saddle-esque shape and leather strap and tassel, whereas the prominent gold hardware and chain on the latter makes it easy to dress up or down for any occasion! Meghan has also carried a Strathberry tote in burgundy, navy and vanilla (preorder here for £495), which also features the adorable bar closure!

The Navy Mulberry Classic

I’ve long been a Mulberry fan (just ask my stupidly extensive collection of Mulberry Lilys), and I’ve had my eye on the Darley for a while. This beautiful bag is available in a range of colours including the navy that Meghan wore to the Commonwealth service (here, £550). Just like Meghan’s other bags that I love, it’s a crossbody, but you can remove the straps and carry it as a clutch, as she did. Featuring the postman’s lock and a golden chain strap, this might just be your next designer-go to bag? I know I’d love to make it mine!

I have loved watching Meghan’s style evolve as she’s come into her own in the role this year, and her summer style is especially gorgeous. I’m not fairly sure I *need* a Strathberry nano…
